Our family just returned from the Playa del Carmen/Cancun area of
Mexico. 5 nights total. The resorts were VERY busy, as well
as the airport. We NEVER saw ANY drug gangs, shootings, or illegal
activity. All was as peaceful as it was the first time we visited
10 years ago. We asked MANY of the guests were they not
scared of all the violence based on the news reports? All laughed
and said they heard not heard about this - but that is because most were
European visitors. The Americans/Canadians we met were not
concerned as they were aware that the Yucatan Peninsula was not where
the problems were.
The Truth Is:
There is a drug war in Mexico.
The majority of the violence is in the Cuidad Juarez portion of the
country.
Cancun is 2,174 miles from there.
Or:
If you had Broadway tickets for a NY show would you cancel because there
are drug problems in Houston, Texas?
Please, do not boycott Cancun because of exaggerated news articles. I would NEVER take my family to a dangerous area, nor would our Company
EVER send our customers to the same!
